Noni, (Morinda citrifolia), is a tropical evergreen shrub or small tree that bears a bitter tasting, smelly fruit covered with hexagonal fruitlets. There are numerous species of Noni, and the fruit go by many common names such as Indian or beach mulberry, dog dumpling, and cheese fruit. The tree is adaptable to growing in a variety of soils and habitats in the warm climates of the Pacific Islands, Asia, Australia, South America, and the Caribbean.
In addition to being a source of food and dye, Noni has been one of the most important medicinal plants in the Polynesian culture for 2000 years.
