Why The SKYLIGHTER cost more?

A fluorescent lamp ignites when an arc of ultra-violet light is struck between the cathodes.  The UV strikes a phosphor coating inside the tube, is absorbed and transformed to visible light.  The "lamp color" is governed by how many and the type(s) of phosphors used to create a particular lamp. The number of, and type of phosphors dictate production cost of a lamp. The bucket icons represent phosphor amounts used in various lamp types.

The first generation of lamps, such as the cool white  introduced in 1938, use halophosphors. These are inexpensive, and it took only one type to create any given shade of "white".
By limiting the glow to a fairly concentrated area of the spectrum, one can achieve a high lumen output, but color rendering is poor. ($)
An improved "deluxe" phosphor can be thought of as speading the single phosphor over a wider area of the spectrum.  More spectrum gets covered, and the CRI improves...but the 'thinning out" greatly reduces the overall lumen output.  Some low cost full spectrum lamps use this phosphor. ($)
Tri-Chromatic Lamps use a blend of three rare-earth phosphors,  emitting  narrowbands of light, targeting the red, green, and blue receptors in the eye.  The approach allows a higher CRI to be achieved without a major reduction in lumens.  Using 3 phosphors, each being premium, raises the costs of such lamps. Some mid cost full spectrum lamps use this approach.

Because only three areas of the spectrum of truly covered (the brain "fills-in" the voids), the rendering is not truly accurate on all colors. ($$)- ($$$)
The SKYLIGHTER (TM) Lamp uses a unique blend of many premium phosphors. We have an exclusive  scotopic phosphor to trigger visual acuity, real reds instead of orange/yellow, and extra blues for the crisp high Kelvin quality.

The buckets in each graphic represent the amount of phosphor used, and the cost factor involved.

However, when the costs on designing and building a store, the display fixtures, location, and advertising budget are considered...premium light bulbs are an essential item.

Lighting can easily dictate if a store does well, or fails.

The initial cost of premium lighting will have excellent  returns long before the lamp burns out. ($$$$)
